Modern Velvet Wingback Headboard with Bold Design

Clean lines, soft velvet, and a bold vertical channel design — this Modern Velvet Wingback Headboard with Bold Design brings a fresh, contemporary alternative to traditional button tufting that feels both current and considered.

Where button tufting creates a grid of individual dimpled points, vertical channel tufting runs in long continuous raised strips from top to bottom — a more graphic, architectural effect that suits modern and art deco-influenced interiors particularly well. Seven distinct vertical panels fill the upper portion of this headboard, each one a tall rectangular cushioned section separated by a clean sewn channel. The result is structured and rhythmic without being busy. The velvet upholstery responds well to this format: the pile direction shifts slightly across each raised panel, catching light differently and giving the surface a subtle tonal variation that flat or leather upholstery would not produce. Extended wingback side panels frame the bed on both sides, adding horizontal width and presence, while the smooth lower base panel below the channel section keeps the composition balanced. Rounded column-style wing edges soften what would otherwise be a very straight-lined piece, adding just enough curvature to prevent the design from feeling rigid.

Key Features

• Seven-panel vertical channel tufting on upper section → Long raised strips running full height of the upper panel create a bold, graphic texture — more architectural and contemporary than traditional button tufting
• Velvet upholstery throughout → Soft pile fabric that shifts light across each raised channel panel, producing a subtle tonal depth that amplifies the structured tufting detail
• Extended wingback side panels with rounded column edges → Full-height wings add width and presence while curved column-style edges soften the silhouette and prevent the design from reading as too rigid
• Straight flat-top profile → Clean horizontal roofline keeps the headboard versatile across different room heights and ceiling configurations
• Smooth lower base panel → Untufted lower section below the channel tufting provides a visual rest point and keeps the overall design balanced rather than overdone
• Tonal all-over upholstery → Consistent fabric colour across panels, wings, and base creates a cohesive, single-material look with texture doing all the decorative work
